1. Introduction

Welcome to What About Mkt. Your privacy is important to us. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your personal information when you use our website, https://www.whataboutmkt.com. By accessing or using our website, you agree to the terms of this Privacy Policy. 1.1 Data Controller Identification (LGPD) For the purposes of applicable data protection laws, including the Lei Geral de Proteção de Dados (LGPD – Law No. 13.709/2018), What About Mkt acts as the data controller responsible for the collection, processing, and protection of personal data described in this Privacy Policy. What About Mkt has designated a Data Protection Officer (DPO) responsible for overseeing compliance with applicable data protection laws, including the LGPD. The DPO can be contacted through the following channel: Requests related to personal data access, correction, deletion, or other data subject rights will be evaluated and processed in accordance with applicable data protection laws. What About Mkt will endeavor to respond to all verified data subject requests within 15 (fifteen) days of receipt, in accordance with the timeframes established under the LGPD. In cases of complexity or high volume, this period may be extended, and the user will be informed accordingly.

2. Information We Collect

We may collect various types of information, including: Information You Provide: When you fill out forms, correspond with us, register for services, report issues, or complete surveys, you may provide information such as your name and last name, address, email address, location, occupation, job title, payment information, social media authentication data, and preferences for newsletters, email alerts, and other marketing communications. Information We Collect Automatically: Device-specific information (e.g., hardware model, IP address, operating system), technical information, details of your website visits, browsing behavior, interactions with our website, and data collected through cookies and similar tracking technologies. This includes information collected via pixel systems and heat-mapping tools (such as Microsoft Clarity and Google Ads systems) which we use to improve the user experience on the site and for marketing purposes. Information From Third Parties: Data from analytics providers (e.g., Google Analytics, Microsoft Clarity) and payment processors to facilitate transactions.

3. Policy for Account Members

Account members may be required to provide additional personal information to access exclusive features or content and receive a tailored experience. This information is handled with the same level of care and protection as all other personal data. Free Trial Access: We offer a Free Trial feature facilitated by WooCommerce and WooSubscriptions. This allows users to access their chosen membership plan for 7 days without payment. This is a one-time benefit per account. By utilizing this feature, you acknowledge and agree that we retain the checkout information provided during the sign-up process, even within the trial period. This data is stored to facilitate future transactions and ensure seamless service continuity.

4. AI Integration and Content Insights

We have an integration with ChatGPT AI (OpenAI) on our site, facilitated through the Meow App plugin, allowing users to gather insights and information about the content on the site.
  • Credit Usage: Users may utilize the credits available within their specific membership plan to interact with this tool. Credits represent the user-facing unit of AI usage allocated per plan. Internally, credits are converted into AI processing tokens used by the underlying AI infrastructure, but users interact with and manage their usage exclusively in credits. AI credits are not available during the Free Trial period — credit access is blocked for all plans during the trial and only becomes active after the trial ends and the first successful payment has been processed.
  • Data Collection for Improvement: By using this feature, you allow us to collect chat information and query history. We collect this information for service improvement, research, analysis, editorial development, and to refine the quality of insights provided.
  • OpenAI Data Usage: When users interact with the AI assistance feature, queries are routed through the Meow App plugin and processed by OpenAI’s infrastructure. What About Mkt operates under an API agreement with OpenAI that, at the time of writing, does not permit OpenAI to use API-submitted data to train or improve their models. However, OpenAI’s own terms and data practices govern how submitted data is processed on their end. We recommend reviewing OpenAI’s privacy policy at https://openai.com/policies/privacy-policy for full details.

5. Legal Grounds for Data Use

Our use of your personal information is based on the following legal grounds:
  • Consent: Where you have explicitly agreed to our use of your data.
  • Contract Performance: Where data is necessary to fulfill our contract with you.
  • Legal Obligation: Compliance with legal obligations under Brazilian Law (LGPD).
  • Legitimate Interests: Where our use of data is necessary for legitimate business purposes and does not override your data protection rights.
  • Legal Claims: Where data is necessary for legal proceedings.

6. How We Use Your Information

We use your information for the following purposes:
  • To provide and maintain our services.
  • To process payments and subscriptions.
  • To send newsletters, email alerts, and marketing communications (with your consent).
  • To improve user experience through analytics and personalization.
  • To generate studies, analysis, news, and magazines based on usage data (including site interaction and AI chat history).
  • To comply with legal obligations under GDPR, CCPA, LGPD, and other applicable laws.
6.1 Profile Information, Account Identification, and Content Personalization In order to operate the What About Mkt website and provide membership services, we retain certain profile and account-related information associated with registered users. This may include personal details such as name, email address, profile information, location, professional details, subscription status, communication preferences, and interaction history with our platform. At a minimum, users must provide their name, last name, and email address, which are necessary for account creation, authentication, and service-related communications. The information stored in user profiles may be processed for the purposes of identifying users within the platform, managing membership access and subscriptions, facilitating the delivery of service communications, and improving the relevance and quality of content published on the website. 6.2 Purchase, Billing, and Transaction Data When you make a purchase or subscribe to a membership plan, certain personal and transactional information is collected and processed in order to complete and maintain the transaction. This may include billing details, subscription status, payment authorization information, transaction identifiers, invoices, and records of purchased content or services. Payment processing is handled through secure third-party providers, including Stripe and the WooCommerce/Woo Subscriptions systems. What About Mkt does not store full credit card numbers or sensitive payment credentials directly on its servers. This information may be retained to process purchases and subscription activations, facilitate automatic renewals, maintain transaction records, provide customer support, and comply with financial, tax, legal, and anti-fraud obligations. 6.3 AI Credit Usage, Platform Interactions, and Content Access Data When users interact with AI-powered features available on the website, we may collect and retain information related to credit usage, queries submitted, and interaction history with the AI system. Credits are the user-facing unit through which AI usage is measured and managed on the platform. When a user submits a request to the AI tool, the platform tracks the number of credits consumed for that interaction based on the length and complexity of the exchange. Internally, this credit usage is converted into AI processing tokens by the underlying infrastructure (OpenAI), routed through the Meow App plugin, but users interact with and manage their balance exclusively in credits. We may store information about the content accessed by users on the platform, including articles read, pages visited, features used, and engagement with AI-generated insights. The purpose of retaining this information is to support:
  • The management and monitoring of AI credit usage associated with specific subscription plans.
  • Service improvement and optimization of AI-powered tools.
  • The development of new studies, analysis, articles, reports, and editorial content.
  • The creation of more relevant and personalized insights and recommendations for users.
Information derived from AI interactions, credit usage patterns, and aggregated platform engagement data may also be analyzed to produce research, analytical studies, and editorial content published on the What About Mkt website. Any such studies will be based on aggregated or anonymized data and will not disclose identifiable personal information. Use of the AI tools available on the platform implies acknowledgment that interaction data, credit usage metrics, and related engagement information may be retained for analytical, research, and service improvement purposes as described in this Privacy Policy. 6.4 Use of AI in Content and Image Production What About Mkt uses artificial intelligence tools as part of its internal content creation, editorial, and visual production workflows. This section describes how AI is used by What About Mkt as a publisher and content creator, which is separate from the AI assistance feature made available to users. Editorial content: Written materials published on the website — including articles, reports, studies, and magazine content — may be drafted in whole or in part with the assistance of AI tools. All AI-assisted content is reviewed, edited, and approved by members of the What About Mkt editorial team before publication. What About Mkt retains full editorial responsibility for all content published on the platform. Images: Visual assets published on the platform, including images used within articles, studies, and magazines, as well as images used in marketing and advertising materials, may be generated using AI image generation tools. These assets are reviewed and selected by the What About Mkt team prior to use. No personal data collected from users is used as input for AI content or image generation. This use of AI relates exclusively to What About Mkt’s internal production processes and does not involve the processing of identifiable user information. By accessing and using the website, you acknowledge that some of the written content and visual materials published on the platform may have been produced with the assistance of AI tools, subject to human editorial review and approval.
